Bone grafting

Sometimes when teeth are lost the bone around them is lost as well. If you have a thin or shrunken jawbone the bone may need to be built back up so there is enough bone to support an implant.

Innovative and highly successful

Bone grafts are a recent innovation and are highly successful. They involve the grafting of bone from one area of your body into your jawbone to increase its width and depth.

Ideally, bone will be grafted from your own body although a synthetic alternative can be used.

Bone grafts are only necessary in some cases – most patients that have implant treatment don’t require it.
